Spice FM is a vibrant community radio station serving the Asian communities of Newcastle and the wider North East. We broadcast a rich blend of music, news, talk shows, and cultural content that celebrates South Asian heritage while engaging a diverse audience.

Job Purpose:

We’re looking for an energetic and engaging Drivetime Radio Presenter to take the wheel of our weekday drive show. You’ll keep listeners company on their commute with a perfect mix of music, entertainment, community news, and relevant discussion that reflects the values and interests of our audience.

Key Responsibilities:
•Host the live weekday drivetime show (4–6 PM), creating engaging, upbeat, and culturally relevant content.
•Play a curated mix of Asian popular music from all genres, appealing to a broad South Asian audience.
•Deliver traffic, travel, weather, and community updates in an informative yet entertaining style.
•Interview local guests, play listener requests, and encourage audience interaction through phone-ins, texts, and social media.
•Plan and prepare content in advance.
•Represent Spice FM positively at events, outside broadcasts, and community functions.
•Ensure compliance with Ofcom broadcasting regulations and station guidelines.
Skills and Experience:
•Confident, charismatic on-air personality with a passion for radio and the South Asian community.
•Strong understanding of Asian culture, music, and current affairs relevant to the local audience.
•Previous radio presenting experience preferred (but not essential if you have raw talent and passion).
•Excellent communication and improvisation skills.
•Technically competent with radio equipment, desk operation, and audio editing software (training can be provided).
•Reliable, punctual, and a true team player.
Desirable:
•Ability to speak one or more South Asian languages (e.g., Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Bengali).
•Social media savvy – able to promote shows and engage audiences online.
•Local knowledge of Newcastle and its communities.
