Urban Green Park Action: Have your say on Newcastle’s green spaces

Are you passionate about Newcastle’s greenspaces? Do you want to get involved in local issues? Would you like to share your ideas? Then Urban Green Newcastle want to hear from you!

Urban Green Newcastle are working hard to breathe new life into the allotments and parks in our city. And they want to collaborate with everyone in Newcastle to co-create greenspaces that are open and accessible to all.
Urban Green Park Action is your chance to share your views and have your say on Urban Green Newcastle’s plans for their parks. Whether you’re interested in a particular park or a key issue like biodiversity, you can sign up to be involved in the discussions that matter to you.
Anyone can sign up and Urban Green Newcastle want to hear from as many of you as possible, Whether you’re already a regular visitor to parks in the city, someone who feels Newcastle’s parks offer little for you, or if you have expertise you’d like to share, Urban Green Newcastle want to know what you want to see happen in their green spaces.
Ed Chivers, Volunteering and Engagement Coordinator for Urban Green Newcastle, said: As an organisation we’re really committed to the idea of co–creating vibrant, open greenspaces that everyone can enjoy spending time in. We know that in order to really do that we have to be able to work with individuals, organisations and communities across the city, so we have collaborated with our outreach advisory panel – Urban Green Connect – and our community partners to develop Urban Green Park Action so that we can reach the broadest range of people possible and give them the opportunity to have their say on our plans for their parks.’
Urban Green Newcastle realise that people don’t have time to get involved with everything going on in all of their 33 parks and over 60 allotment sites, so Urban Green Park Action allows you to register to be involved in conversations about particular green spaces that are close to your heart, and subjects that are of interest to you.
And to make sure everyone has the chance to have their say, no matter how much time you’ve got, they are also giving you different ways to get involved. From filling out online surveys, to attending public meetings, to joining an online focus group for a key topic or project.
However you want to get involved, the first step is to head over to the Urban Green Newcastle website to sign up and share your views.

About Urban Green Newcastle
Urban Green Newcastle is an independent charity, established in April 2019 responsible for the management, maintenance, restoration, enhancement and protection of the City’s 33 parks and 61 allotment sites.
It is one of the first organisations of its kind in the country, an innovative new approach with the aim of securing the future of green spaces without long term local authority funding.
Our mission is simple – to breathe life into Newcastle’s parks and allotments, to connect people to nature, and improve the health and wellbeing of all families and communities in Newcastle by providing safe and well-maintained parks and allotments.
We aim:
• For more people to enjoy our beautiful and vibrant open-spaces, and feel the benefits to their health and wellbeing, and that of their families and communities.
• That our parks and allotments are safe and welcoming for all.
• That local people feel connected and committed to our parks and allotments.
• That partner organisations value our parks and allotments and are committed to helping maintain and develop them.
